John has worked in the care sector for approximately 8 yeras, starting
as a support worker for adults with learning and physical diabilities
within small residential homes. After becoming a homes senior (assi
stant manager) he then worked as a relief manager for 18 months,
working with various small group homes, supporting a variety of
indiviuals with various specific needs.
John then left the residential sector to take up the post of full time
peripatetic assessor with Sunderland Social Services, assessing support
workers from various backgrounds, with various levels of experience,
all whom supported adults with learning and/or physical disabilities.
It was also a part of John's job remit to deliver induction and
foundation training to all staff across the service.
In April of 2006 John joined Interactive Development working as a
peripatetic assessor, again assessing the working practice of a variety
of support workers to NVQ Level2/3.
John has recently been awarded his NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social
CAre, along with the Joseph Rowntree Award which lead to the
Certificate in Higher Education. Joh achieved his D32/33 award in 2003
and is about to complete his V1 in September. John has commenced his
Certificate in Education (FE) which is a two year course at Sunderland
University which he feels sure will support his own personal continuous
development.
