Apprenticeships

Why do an Apprenticeship?

Earnings

Not only will you a receive an apprentice wage while you are studying: research shows that apprentices earn, on average, over £100,000 more throughout their lifetime than other employees.

Support during training

The training provider will make sure you have a mentor/assessor. Their job is to ensure that your training fits your personal requirements, offers the skills needed for the job and satisfies national standards.

Prospects

When you’ve finished you can carry on working, maybe get promoted or go onto further learning. Your career doesn’t have to stop at the Advanced Apprenticeship, if you want to go on to University you will find many institutes of Higher Education value your skills and knowledge and will happily offer you a place on a Foundation Degree or other higher level qualifications.

What's covered?

Employment Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)

These exist to help apprentices and employers understand their employment rights and responsibilities and the safe learner concept, as well as their rights related to equal opportunities and health and safety.

Technical Certificate

This is an award given to you on answering an essay type question, in detail, about a situation that might occur at work and how you would deal with it.

Diploma Level 2

This is a nationally recognised vocational qualification. You are assessed in two ways, through observation and written work. You will build up a portfolio of evidence with your assessor based on your day-to-day activities. You will also be observed in the workplace, by your assessor, actually carrying out activities.

Key Skills

These are the English and maths skills you will need to enable you to carry out your roles and responsibilities to a high standard; they are English and maths skills in the context of your work environment. You will not have to complete this element if you got grades A–C in your English and Maths GCSEs.

How long will it last?

Apprenticeships can take 12 months, but we will work with you to ensure that you progress as quickly as possible and could complete your apprenticeship within 5 months.

How much will it cost?

The total cost for the qualifications and training you complete through the Apprenticeship is around £2000, however due to government funding currently available you could be eligible for funding so you don’t have to pay.

You won’t have to pay for any training if you:

  • are over 16 years old and
  • have lived in the UK for 3 years or more, come from an EU member country or are a British Citizen.

If you match this criteria, it won’t cost you a thing!
