September 2006
Idsupport have been approached to deliver two
new services in the Gateshead area – one for
a young man who lives at home with parents
and needs only a few hours a week initially, with
a plan to increase over time: the other for a lady
relocating into the area who requires 24 hours
support with sleep in.

August 2006
Train to Gain –Learning and Skills Council
idTraining have been successful in becoming
an approved provider for the LSC delivering NVQ
level two and three, funded by the Train to Gain
contract. We are now able to provide level two
and three N.V.Q in health and social care to
employees of small to medium sized organisations
throughout the north east region.

CSCI Visit
Following the annual visit on 10th August from
CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection)
idSupport have moved up a grade from a 3 to a 4.
CSCI assess services across five grades ranging
from inadequate to excellent. A grade 4 means that
we are providing a good service in all key areas.
This is great news for all involved, proving that all
the hard work undertaken by the whole team is
paying off.

July 2006
This month ID held a Celebration of Achievement
Week during which students showed off their work
to each other, to their staff and to other interested
parties. The week was a great success and the quality
of work impressive. We viewed exhibitions, watched
Student performance (both live and on DVD), read
poems and stories, found out about skills, eat food,
bought student cookbooks and played numeracy and
literacy games.

Our next Celebration of Achievement will be during
the week of the 16th July 2007 – we will post details
next year.

June 2006
Id Support received confirmation in June that we are
now recognised in the provider framework of Durham
County Council Social Care and Health Department.
Durham are planning to offer opportunities across the
next three years to providers on their list to tender for
services to support people who have a learning disability
to live in their own homes across the whole County.

May 2006
idDesign marks the successful completion of the skillsline
project this month. Skillsline is a new and innovative
assessment and learning programme for adults with learning
difficulties and/or disabilities. Developed by the Northumberland
Partnership, Skillsline is meeting national and regional priorities
from Education and Social Care sectors, and is implementing
key recommendations of “Valuing People”, the Skills for Life
Agenda and the more recent review of LSC provision “Through
Inclusion to Excellence”. For more information contact Dave Bird.

Working with Northumbria University
Following up on the work of the Newcastle LLDD forum ID and
Northumbria are in the process of working together to develop a
new Level 4 Qualification for teachers who work with adults who
have learning Difficulties and Disabilities. This is potentially a very
exciting project filling what has been a significant training gap.
We are hoping to ensure that the course has a very practical base
and that it offers opportunities to develop creative strategies for
working with this group.
